Pleiku-Ia Drang Veterans 40th Anniversary Commemoration (November 10th-13th, 2005)

On November 12, the Vietnam Center is co-hosting a seminar that will commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Ia Drang/Pleiku Battles of November 1965 - first brought to public attention by the book We Were Soldiers Once... and Young, by LTG Hal Moore and Joe Galloway and later by the movie We Were Soldiers starring Mel Gibson. The event will take place at the Hilton Crystal City Hotel in Arlington, VA.

The Seminar being arranged by the Vietnam Center will take place all day on Saturday 12 November, and will be followed by a final banquet that evening.

The Seminar luncheon will be in the Main Ballroom of the Hilton Crystal City, and will begin at noon. LTG Hal Moore will be the luncheon speaker. Tickets for the lunch are $25 each, and can be purchased during Thursday and Friday (Nov 10-11) at the 1st Cav's Hospitality Suite in the Hilton Crystal City hotel, located on the Plaza Level.

The banquet will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington DC, and there will be free transportation by shuttle available for those registered as guests at the Hilton. The fee for the Saturday night banquet is $55 per person, payable by check in advance; for details see www.iadrang.org, and click "Order Tickets." The dress code is sport coat and tie for gentlemen, pantsuit or dress for ladies.

On Sunday morning (November 13), there will be a sunrise memorial event at the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC.

Oral Historians from the Vietnam Archive will be conducting interviews during the week. If you would like to participate, please sign-up.
