Rex Capling Collection
Approximately one linear foot of 16 mm film and a VHS tape from Rex Capling's service in Vietnam as an F-105D pilot with the 469th Fighting Bulls of the 388th TFW out of Korat, Thailand in 1968. Capling was shot down and listed missing in action for many years until his grave was finally found in Vietnam. 22160000000

Franklin (Nick) Nickerson Collection
Franklin "Nick" Nickerson was born on June 28, 1945 in Morgantown, WV. He volunteered to serve with the US Army in 1966. Of his three years of service, two were spent in Southeast Asia after completion of Basic Training and Photo Training. Nickerson served with with the Department of the Army Special Photographic Office, and was stationed at Ft. Shaftner, Hawaii; Saigon, Vietnam; Seoul, South Korea; and Bangkok, Thailand. While in Southeast Asia, he worked as a Documentary/Combat Photographer and as a Film Soundman. Nickerson held the rank of PFC-E5 during his service overseas.

Approximately half a linear foot of slides, negatives, and photographs primarily taken by Franklin (Nick) Nickerson in Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand while he service with the Department of the Army Special Photographic Office (DASPO). 21900000000

Approximately half a linear foot of slides primarily in the village of Song Be, Phuoc Long Province taken by James Honl that depict his service as an Advisor with the United States Army in 1968-1969. 22170000000

Robert Cook Collection
"Amgrunt Memory: A Recollection of the Tet Offensive of 1968" documents a firefight that Robert Cook was involved in on 20 January 1968 while he was stationed near the DMZ with his Marine rifle platoon that was attached to the 1st Amtrac Battalion. 22590000000

Zachary P. Bagwell Collection
Four oral histories conducted in Fall 2007 by Zachary P. Bagwell, a student with the University of Houston-Downtown, with Toy Smith, Diane Murray, William Nail, and Father Vincent for the Library of Congress American Folklife Center Veterans History Project. Also included in the donation are military administrative documents and a CD of photographs from William Nail; data sheets on Brian Horinek, the late brother of Diane Murray; and printed photographs from Toy Smith, Diane Murray, and William Nail. 22250000000

Forward Air Controller Association Collection
Glenn S. Bremenkamp was born in March 1933 in Colby, Kansas. He enlisted in the United States Air force at the age of 19. Prior to service abroad, he was a flight engineer for the Strategic Air Command. Then he was given orders to enter the Southeast Asian theater, and served with the 22nd TASS ALO/FAC Kien Giang Province, Vietnam and the 23rd TASS FAC Nakhon Phanom, Thailand from February 1966-December 1966. Bremenkamp and flew in many support missions while in Southeast Asia, in aircraft such as F105, A-1, F-4, A-4, B-66, and A-26. He attained the rank of Major, and received 3 Distinguished Flying Crosses, 17 Air Medals, an Air Force Commendation, and a Presidential Unit Citation. After Vietnam, Bremenkamp continued his education and earned a Master's Degree.

Over 200 slides document Glenn S. Bremenkamp's service as a Forward Air Controller in 1966, including interdictions on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, from April to December of the same year. 22370000000

Richard P. Carmody Collection
Richard P. Carmody was born in 1942 in Chicago, IL. He entered the United States Army through the ROTC program in 1964. Carmody did a total of ten years active duty with two years of those years in Southeast Asia. He was assigned to various units throughout his military career including 2/17th Artillery Battalion from 1964 - 1966, Basic Training Brigade Fort Campbell, KY from 1966 - 1968, Field Artillery Office ARN. Course Fort Sill, OK from 1968 - 1969, 23rd Artillery Group and 1/27th Artillery Vietnam from 1969 - 1970, and instructed ROTC at Davidson College Davidson, NC from 1970 - 1972. While in Vietnam he held the positions of Assistant S-3, Battalion Fire Direction Officer in 1965, Battery XO in 1966, Assistant S-3, Field Artillery Group in 1969 and Battery CO in 1970. In 1965 Carmody participated in the battle of Ia Drang Valley. During his army career Carmody received numerous awards and citations including three Bronze Stars, four Army Commendation Medals including one for valor, an Air Medal, and a President Unit Citation. He served in Army until retiring in 1972 at the rank of Captain. After the Army, Carmody pursued his law degree from Vanderbilt University and has practiced law for thirty-four years.

Andrew Hudson Collection
Audiotape contains recordings of a firefight on 14 September 1969 on Highway 311 several miles south of Fire Support Base Buttons and Song Be City in which Sergeant Donald Sidney Skidgel was killed. 22560000000

William B. McIver Collection
William B. McIver was born in 1933 and was raised on a sharecropper dry-land cotton farm near Spur, Texas. He joined the United States Navy after dropping out of high school and served during the Korean War and the French Indochina War. His involvement in the French Indochina War included service aboard a destroyer in the Gulf of Tonkin protecting aircraft carriers that waited for orders that never came to assist the French during the Battle of Dien Bien Phu. He retired from the Navy after 21 years of service and then began working in California's wine industry. In 2000, he retired as the owner and operator of Matanzas Creek Winery in Sonoma County, California. He now spends his time writing about his life and the history of the times in which he has lived.

Book titled By Dead Reckoning: From the Great Depression to the First Vietnam War by William B. McIver describes McIver's life from the time he was raised on a sharecropper cotton farm in West Texas during the Great Depression to his service in the United States Navy during the Korean War and the French Indochina War in the 1950s. The book also gives McIver's family background dating back to their arrival from Scotland to Colonial North Carolina. 22550000000
